Hi, friends. What are some of your fondest memories from childhood? Do you remember chasing siblings; playing with neighborhood friends; or maybe spending time with grandparents? One of my favorite memories includes feeling safely comforted and loved at my grandparents’ home. I would spend hours listening to their stories and studying the photos they pulled out for me that went along with those stories. I remember this time of sharing as a way to feel closer to them – connecting the generations. Photography is truly an art that helps pull together a legacy, that was true for me and I aim to make that true for all of my clients as well. Putting stories and family history together through photographs is one of the most rewarding things I do with Johnna Brumley Photography…and one of the most thoughtful things you can do for your present and future family members.
I started capturing my own stories…
When I had my first son, those warm memories of grandma and grandpa sharing photos and stories were very much alive in my heart (parenthood will make one nostalgic like that, right?). I attempted to do everything I could (while balancing life as a new mom) to document this new chapter in life. I wanted to remember it all…my son’s personality; his sweet smirk; his love of life; and his spunk. These things are all part of him and tell the story of his childhood. Documenting them will make up for what words cannot describe.
And then, I started capturing stories for others…
When my second son was born, I realized how quickly time was passing. I nodded to life’s way of moving chapters along at a furious pace. In that, I became very grateful to have all of these wonderful photos in our home. I also realized, though, that not everyone has the time or know-how to do capture such beautiful treasures. So, with that, my photography business Johnna Brumley Photography was born. I am so passionate about storytelling through photographs – something that started in my early days of life and has stuck with me all the while.
Life is good, friends…
Johnna Brumley Photography is so much more than good lighting and fancy gear to me. My husband Bruce and I have been married for 13 years in October. We are proud of our two boys Sammy (9) and Kent (7); they are involved with every sport that time and opportunity will allow. Our family loves to travel and we look forward to seeing the world together. I am so thankful and encouraged by the way my family supports my business and helps me help others.
I’m proud to serve others in Topeka and the vicinity through Johnna Brumley Photography and look forward to helping many, many more families preserve their legacy in photos, as time does what it does – and marches on.
